Q2Q BRIDGE NOW TO BE BUILT ON WEST SIDE OF TRACKS

Q2Q BRIDGE NOW TO BE BUILT ON WEST SIDE OF TRACKS
This recent revelation was announced by Mayor Coté at the QCB 2015. Originally the Q2Q was to be built on the east side of the rail track affecting the area around Quayside Park and Promenade buidling. According to Mayor Coté the city has now decided the draw bridge will be built between the rail track and buildings Excelsior and Lagnuna Landing.

What are your thoughts about this latest Q2Q development?

  1. Well, there is no doubt that this came as a surprise to most at the AGM and those living on both the east and west side of the rail track. With all the things in New West that I think would be a greater priority ( Canada Games Pool, roads etc ) spending 10 million on a bridge to connect Queensborough to Quayside seems a bit misplaced as a priotiy.

After all, why are we spending millions to have a beautiful waterfront - only to have an industrial mega shoreline across the river in Surrey - complete with coal terminals. Who knows what else will be built once the tunnel is replaced with a bridge to allow tankers up the river.

Thanks QCB for once again holding an AGM that produced great guest speakers and great information that will no doubt be talked about for some time to come.

  2. I disagree, investing in the waterfront will make this area more and more valuable and will have an impact on what happens on the other side of the water. People that buy brand new condos will have a say and will vote. Most importantly, this will serve the Queensborough community and further spur positive development there. Queensborough is isolated from the city. It makes no sense to invest more in some parts of the city where most of the funding has been going for the last 100 years if the will not bring the city forward. Look at Buenos Aires, Toronto and other cities, by embracing the waterfront have become more desirable and property values have increased. http://www.waterfrontoronto.ca/ http://www.puertomadero.com/
